U15A Miners defeat rival for 2023 CB Cup
The U15A Glace Bay Miners avenged a 4-0 Loss in Round Robin Play to The NW Sharks, with a 6-2 victory in CB Cup play.
To get to the final the Miners had to first defeat The County Islanders. In the Semifinal matchup Parker MacKenzie and Kayden McInnis paced the Miners with 3 points apiece, with McInnis getting the Game Winner. Seth Kaiser had the only goals for the Islanders, Converting twice on the Powerplay.
Alex Thompson out dueled Cody Wells for the win between the pipes
In the Finals Seth Jordan opened the scoring with a Short Handed goal for the Sharks early in the 1st, But Emily Munroe tied the score midway through the frame Parker Mackenzie Scored the first of his two goals to give the Miners a 2-1 lead after 2. Early in the 3rd MacKenzie netted what proved to be the winner. The Final score was 6-2 for the Miners
Parker MacKenzie led the Bay with 3 points, While Kayden McInnis and Noah Heffernan had 2 points each. For the Sharks, Ryan McLaughlin tallied to go with Jordan's goal and Karson McVarish had New Waterford's lone assist.
Alex Thompson picked up his 2nd win of the day for Glace Bay, While Reid Mayich took the loss for the Sharks.
The Miners head to the next round for the right to advance to the Day of Champions..
